BUFFER: Preparing to Feed the Unexpected
Buffers, also known as reserves, are additional resources a planner sets aside to manage future uncertainties better. These reserves can be extra money, time, personnel, or any other resource, providing a safety net for planning.
Although rules of thumb exist (e.g., add 20% of the calculated time as a buffer before the important milestone), no one can know precisely how much extra will be needed for a new endeavor. Thus, having as many resources as possible when doing new things is good. If you want to reach the endpoint, of course.
