REALITY: In Groups, We Better Share the Same Delusions
Although reality is defined as “the state of things as they are, rather than as they are imagined to be,” we can debate how the perceived reality reflects things “as they are.”
While we can agree on specific aspects of physical reality—if you jump from a hundred-meter cliff, you almost certainly will smash your body—agreeing on psychological and social reality might sometimes be impossible. For instance, what will follow our death—annihilation or some afterlife?
Depending on your psychological reality, which is greatly affected by your social one, the imagined outcomes will differ and influence your present behavior.
Sharing your perception of reality with your group is vital for any group endeavor, at least in work-related aspects.
