THE NOW: The Only Point of Our Existence
Putting aside advice about living a full-blooded life, we must understand the particular importance of the present. Although it has been determined by our genes and the context we grew up in, “the now” is the only time we have agency.
We cannot change the actual past, and the future to come is greatly determined by our present. Good command of your present activity makes you a better future planner, while people too focused on the past and the future are unlikely to be effective.
